John Hermanson

John has a real passion for two things: teaching and wine. A dedicated school teacher by day, John enjoys spending much of his free time studying wine and traveling to wine regions. After a wine tasting journey through France with his wife, Anna, John started hosting private wine tastings for family and friends at the suggestion of his father-in-law.

Since then, John has turned his wine hobby into a wine guide business, so he can help people learn more about wine in a non-judgmental and unpretentious atmosphere. His events are relaxed, fun, and educational. People are free to ask every question they have about wine and how to enjoy it to its fullest. As a public school teacher of 15 years, John is engaging, professional, and comfortable speaking in front of groups.

John is a WSET level 2 certified wine professional. He is currently studying to complete levels 3 and 4. Although much of his technical knowledge comes from his certification, his true passion for wine comes from the experiences he has shared with people around the world. He can’t wait to continue the journey by sharing it with you.

Most people in the wine business (sommeliers, distributors, wine makers, tasting hosts, & wine reps) are interested in selling wine. There is nothing wrong with that, but it can sometimes make you think that there is an agenda involved. John has no connection to wine sales, and he is not trying to steer you in one direction or another. That’s what makes him different from every other tasting host out there. He wants to help you learn more about wine, and he has a passion for doing so.
